Pros and Cons of Back of the Neck Tattoos

..Pros and Cons of Back of the Neck Tattoos for Girls
Back of the neck tattoos for girls take some special consideration, but look great with the right person.

Back of the neck tattoos, for girls or guys, aren't the most popular kind of tattoo out there. Tattoos on the back on the neck tend to be avoided for a few reasons. One is that with a back of the neck tattoo, a girl can never get her hair cut short. You don't want the tattoo to be constantly visible, after all. Reason number two roots from the same thing, but with your constantly long hair you have to be selective of when to put your hair up. There seems to be no hiding a back of the neck tattoo. Lastly, the tattoo is very hard to get put on because your neck is very sensitive and your spine is right there, meaning that getting the tattoo is going to be extremely painful.

If you're sure all the annoyances that a back of the neck tattoo might cause are worth surviving through to have a tattoo you can claim as original and yours, then it is definitely for you. Just don't chicken out on the chair when you suddenly realize, remember, or experience that getting inked is indeed quite painful, especially on the neck.

There may be legitimate downsides to back of the neck tattoos for girls, but that does not make them any less attractive when the time is right. The nape of the neck is considered to be a very sensuous area of the body in many cultures (like the Japanese). And even if a man never openly admires the back of your neck, he's doing it on the inside. A tattoo on the back of your neck has its unsung advantages to counter balance the disadvantages.

For the few who venture into back of the neck tattoos for girls, a wide variety of designs awaits.

Several tattoos girls get for the back of the neck simply are a smaller version of a tattoo they would get elsewhere, like on their ankle, wrist, or shoulder. The reason for this is that the neck is particularly painful to get a tattoo on and certain designs look good no matter what part of the body they're on. Some common designs that girls get on the back of their necks are the same fairies, hearts, butterflies, or flowers that they would get on any other part of their body.

That's not to say that tattoos on the back of the neck aren't unique, it's just the location that makes them unique, not what the designs are. Some good unique designs for that area are suns, moons, and zodiac-related symbols. Girls get them on other parts of the body, they just look best on the back of the neck (or the shoulder).

  1. I got one on the back of my neck, it is my first tattoo. It is all black, and was not at all painful. I am very needle-phobic, but it hurt less than getting surgical staples out. Mine was larger than I thought it would be, but is beautiful.

I chose an anchor with a cross and a heart on top, symbolizing Faith, hope, and love.
